The Future of U.S.-China Relations - Views from U.S. Academia and Policymakers, Tuesday July 12^th @ 6:30 PM [new location]

During each U.S. Presidential election cycle, U.S.-China relations frequently take center stage of debates. As the second-largest trading partner of the U.S. and the second-largest economy in the world, China is a hugely important partner to the United States. For decades, there has been a vigorous discussion among policymakers and academics in the United States about the most effective way to manage U.S.-China relations, with policymakers on both sides converging on engagement with China as the best way to achieve our goals. At the same time, there are others in the United States who believe that engagement alone may not be sufficient to achieve foreign policy objectives in the region. Please join us as Prof. Joshua Eisenman, assistant professor at the University of Texas at Austin's Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs and senior fellow for China studies at the American Foreign Policy Council in Washington, DC, discusses this ongoing policy debate and its implications for the region.
